Detailed Itinerary:

3 nights, 4 days away break for residents to Stone Town

Zanzibar Serena Inn, Stone Town

Day 1: Fly from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar

You will be picked up from your residence or hotel in Dar Es Salaam and transferred to Dar Es Salaam domestic airport for your scheduled flight to Zanzibar. The time of the flight can be arranged to suit your schedule; it is normally possible to fly directly to Zanzibar, and the last flight is at 17.45 from Dar. On arrival in Zanzibar a car will take you and your family directly to your hotel in the centre of Stone Town, the Zanzibar Serena Inn. This is a short scenic drive of approximately 15 minutes, giving you the opportunity to get a feel for this enchanting island. After check in you have the option of enjoying a fabulous seafood lunch before spending the afternoon soaking up the sun and adjusting to the relaxed pace of life on the coast. You may want to explore the fascinating network of cobbled streets which make up Stone Town and get a feel for local life on the island, or you may simply prefer to relax around the hotel pool and enjoy a few cocktails and your evening meal.

Day 2: Stone Town Zanzibar

Whilst it would be tempting to spend one’s days relaxing around the swimming pool at Zanzibar Serena Inn, listening to the calming sounds of the ocean, Stone Town has so much else to offer! In the morning you and the children will go out on an Island Spice tour. Zanzibar is famous for its trade in spices. For centuries the Arabs sailed with the Monsoon winds from Oman. The two main islands, Unguja (normally known as Zanzibar Island) and Pemba, provided an ideal base for the Omani Arabs, being relatively small, and therefore fairly easy to defend. Your guides on the tour are experts on the subject so be sure to ask questions. You will return to the hotel in time for lunch either there or at one of Stone Town's many other restaurants and fast food eateries. The afternoon is all yours again, to relax at the hotel or go explore the town's museums, shops and historical sights.

Day 3: Stone Town Zanzibar

The waters around Zanzibar are teaming with marine life and today you and the family will head out early to hop on a boat and go on the lookout for dolphins. If you’re lucky you maybe even have the chance to swim with them. Once again you return in time for an afternoon around Stone Town, or you may wish to organise another adventure such as a trip to Prison Island to see the turtles or maybe a snorkelling trip Ask your safari consultant about additional extras. As tonight is your last night you can ask the hotel to plan a special dinner for you and the family, perhaps at one of the rooftop restaurants from where you will be able to take full advantage of the spectacular views over the sea and enjoy the cool coastal breeze.

Day 4: Depart

Today after a leisurely monring you will be transferred back to Zanzibar International Airport in time for your flight to Dar es Salaam. As before the timing of the flight is to be arranged and we can ensure your schedule is followed. Once you land in Dar you will be met at the airport and returned to your residence or hotel.
