This six day family holiday is super-family friendly, full of kid focused activities and child friendly locations. Spend a couple of days in Amani Forest Camp in the beautiful Amani Nature Reserve where there is walking, swimming in rivers and forest fun for any age. Then head down to the coast to the pretty seaside town of Pangani where you will stay in the friendly Mkoma Bay and enjoy all the fun the seaside has to offer – swimming, snorkelling, mangrove adventures and cultural sightseeing around slave markets and the old town. You can’t go wrong with this trip, suitable for children of any age from the youngest toddler up to the most active teen.

Day 1: Dar Es Salaam – Amani Nature Reserve
In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel or your family residence in Dar at 7am and driven to Amani Nature Reserve where you will arrive in time for lunch. After lunch, take the children on a walk through the rainforest to experience the biodiversity of this Eastern Arc forest area. There are walks of all sizes for any age children, from a twenty minute amble through the forest to a few hours hike up Mbomole Hill. Nature lovers will love this place! Spend overnight at Amani Forest Camp, deep in the forest itself, on full board basis
Day 2: Amani Nature Reserve
Enjoy your breakfast and then set out on a visit to the famous botanical garden in Amani. These are the second largest botanical gardens in the world and provide a wonderful location for some forest fun. There are some endemic plant species to find, and if time allows, visit the tea plantations and go shopping for home made souvenirs at the Amani Womens Collective. This evening you are again based at Amani Forest Camp on full board basis
Day 3: Amani-Amboni Caves – Pangani Coast
You start the day with breakfast in Amani, and then you jump in the car and drive to Amboni caves via Tanga Town. At Amboni you take the family for a fascinating tour around this amazing cave system, led by an English speaking guide who provide interesting explanations of the stunning stalactite and stalagmite formations of the caves as well as the history of the cave system. After your tour of the caves you will drive back to Tanga where you will stop for lunch. Then after lunch drive further down to the historical Pangani Coast where you will arrive in the mid afternoon. Rest and relax at leisure in Mkoma Bay on full board basis
Day 4: Pangani Coast
After breakfast, start the day with a sightseeing tour, visiting the old colonial buildings, a former slave labour camp, and an old slave market site. We can also arrange for a River Cruise through the vast coconut plantation along the Pangani River, snorkelling and fishing with local fishermen or diving in the reefs off the coast. Please ask your safari consultant for more information on these additional activities. All meals are provided at Mkoma Bay on full board basis
Day 5: Pangani Beach
Today rest and relax at leisure in your comfortable lodge Mkoma Bay on the white sandy beach. Activities include playing in the pool and on the beach, taking walks to the mangroves and looking for 300,000 year old fossils, diving or snorkelling at Masiwe Island - please ask your safari consultant for further details about these activities. All meals are provided for you and the family in the resort.
Day 6: Pangani beach – Dar-es-salaam
Leisure Breakfast then leave Pangani for Dar-es-salaam with packed lunch. We will return you to your hotel or residence in the early evening.
